District 202 Announces New Leadership
Dear Friends,
I’m pleased to announce that District 202’s board of directors has named Curt Prins as our new executive director. His first day is today.
Curt has stepped down as acting board chair and from the board to take over the leadership of this organization. His responsibilities will focus on development, communications and community outreach. And he will also manage the day-to-day operations of the organization.
I have been named the chair of the board of directors, and look forward to working with him.
Curt has served on District 202’s board of directors since February 2005, and as acting chair since February 2009. He has been an active part of the organization’s re-development leading the reprioritization and reorganization process over the past summer.
He has been a very driven, hands-on director. As acting chair, he has proven to be an effective fundraiser and leader. Now that we’re completing our 3-year assessment and organizational realignment, he is the natural choice to lead District 202 at this critical juncture.
Most recently, Curt was the marketing director of the St. Paul JCC where he successfully led the restructuring of the organization’s marketing efforts. And for more than 16 years, he has served as a technology marketing expert to entrepreneurs, start-ups and emerging companies within the Twin Cities, US and abroad.
As many of you know, he’s also been an active community volunteer within the Twin Cities LGBT community for many years. He’s worked locally with TogetherMinnesota, Project 515, OutFront Minnesota, Quorum, HRC Twin Cities, and the Faith Family Fairness Alliance, and nationally with ImmigrationEquality.
District 202 has a very rich 18-year history of empowering LGBT youth. And Curt will continue that legacy and foster the social entrepreneurial direction that our organization has taken.
Please help me in welcoming Curt Prins as our new executive director. Feel free to contact him via email at (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
Cordially,
Phillip Jares
Chair, Board of Directors
