Job Opp: Development & Events Internship
We’re looking for a talented and organized intern!
The development & events intern is a key position within our organization. This resourceful, detailed-orientated individual will work directly with the executive director, board members, youth and other stakeholders to assist in development efforts and special events. The intern will act as project manager in a wide range of efforts for the organization. This position pays $9-12/hour depending on qualifications.
Essential Duties/Functions:
- Manage development operations—data entry, list development, committee management, campaign executions and other efforts—based on the direction provided by the development committee and executive director.
- Plans and executes fundraising events including house parties, corporate gatherings, and others with direction from the development and events committees and the executive director.
- Plans, sources volunteers and executes special events including Youth Pride, Twin Cities Pride, and our summer youth programs with the help of program staff.
Requirements/Skills:
- Practical backgrounds/interests in one or more of the of the following areas: Business or Nonprofit Management, Nonprofit Development and Youth Work/Programming
- Understanding and being committed to the social entrepreneurship model of social change.
- Comfortable and accountable to work effectively within a home office environment
- Prior experience producing events as a staff person or volunteer—sell us on the details and outcomes of your work!
- Technical knowledge of and competency in: Microsoft Office Suite, Google Apps/Docs, Basic SaaS platforms like Constant Contact and CRMs
- Understanding of information gathering techniques, statistics and analysis
- Have great interpersonal skills
- Excited to interact with a variety of individuals, communities and agencies
- Be able to navigate generational communications
- Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and inclusion
- Identify as an LGBT or allied individual
- Have reliable transportation/public transportation with a valid driver’s license
- Pass a background check
